Getting Rid of Ants Naturally

The weather is warming up here now. In the past few days I have noticed large ants in my home. It happens every spring for a short period of time. Because I hate chemicals I searched for natural ways to rid my home of ants. The following is what I have found to work for others:
1. Vinegar--Make a mixture of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Wipe down your countertops , cupboards, and other surfaces with this mixture several times a day. Ants hate the smell of vinegar so this should keep them away.
2. Chalk/Baby Powder--Draw a line of chalk or sprinkle baby powder across the area where the ants are entering your home. The talcum powder in both of these products is a natural ant repellent. If you decide to use these you should know that talcum has been linked to cancer in some studies.
3. Borax--Mix equal parts of Borax and either syrup or jelly and place mixture in area that ants can find it. When the ants eat this they will die.
4. Coffee grinds--Sprinkle used coffee grinds in the garden and around the outside of your house. Ants are repelled by the scent.
5. Cucumber/Citrus Peels-- Leave the peelings in areas of known ant activity. The peelings are toxic to the type of fungi that ants feed on, and therefore avoided by the ants.
